Now in case you got bricked ( Prolly you wont ) just send your ipod into Disk Mode and then perform a normal Restore in iTunes, you will be back with the original state. Now i've Got something for you, after you format your ipod to MAC, you may wanna try this in order to mod the firmware ( Tested by 2 ppl and it didnt brick ) :Īnd then flash the modded firmware with it after you have formatted your iPod to mac. but the only thing which is holding me from formatting my ipod to HFS + is that i wont be able to use it in Windows machines ( although its possible with third party apps ). I agree with you that the HFS+ ( MAC ) formatted ipod are way faster than the FAT32 ones. My new Harmon/Kardon Drive + Play now has my iPod hiding in my glove box, and I rarely look at it anymore. No offense, it works really well, and does a pretty good job, but a FAT 32 iPod runs soooo much slower in uploading music that it's not worth it anymore. I dunno.I think I might go back to the old one. WARNING : The firmware is not Mac Friendly, meaning that if your ipod is Mac formatted it'll prolly gonna be bricked, so you better use windows…. Link below ), open it, choose firmware file from the edit mode drop list, choose the firmware linked below, and then hit write to ipod, wait till it finishes then eject the ipod … Bad things could happen (though they could just as equally not ) so be prepared to deal with the consequences should the process run amok. Keep in mind, though, that this entails changing the firmware that is currently on your iPod (which is Apple approved, the firmware that is, not replacing it) to something that was modified by a third party. If you're jonsing for split screen navigation but don't want to pony up for cash for a new iPod this is for you. Some eager hackers have modded the 5th gen iPod's firmware to make it look more like the iPod Classic's. as they have for most of the iPod's history (which is their right, of course). These features could have been placed on the previous generation of iPods with a firmware update, but Apple decided not to do that. The new UI on the iPod Classics is a great example. Any kind of input would be helpful.Make your old iPod's UI look like an iPod ClassicĪpple uses new features and UI enhancements that are only available in the current generation of iPods as a carrot to get people to upgrade to the newest model. I also diagnosed my ipod classic (Retracts 8, Reallocs 44,Pending 0,Power on 781),but again I doubt it is that. My wife is getting to buy an iphone and I need to resolve this issue with itunes. The release of the ipod classic makes it a very tempting buy, 80GB for 160 off Apples website (for those of you in the US, 160 for an 80 gig mp3 player. I prefer to use itunes over floola, but it's not leaving me much choice. It's something with this computer(emachine AMD running windows vista) and itunes. This is no a ipod problem (I don't think)because the same thing happens to my wife ipod nano(on her seperate profile). I used floola and plugged it to sync and ejected and no files, but then I placed it back in floola and the files came up in floola and I added some songs and now the music files are showing on the ipod, so obviously the files are there the whole time, but itunes is causing(syncing) them to not to show up. I haven't figured out why it's different then the last 2 years, before that I didn't even have to be online to sync my ipod. I have a 80GB classic ipod on itunes 10.1.1.4,and itunes is screwing up again, normally I have to be online to sync my ipod,(some kind of bug?)if not when the sync finishes it says I have no music on my ipod(even though all the songs are still there filling space, then I have to restore it (online). This is been going on for 2 years or so, but now last week sometimes being online isn't enough, it's syncing and then saying there is no files on the ipod (but on storage there's like 200mgs left, and 73 Gigs used)Usually the first time after restoring usually works, but any minor syncs after that put it back to (NO Music on ipod).
